Questions, after all, lead to answers. And answers, to knowledge.
However, answers can often come from unreliable sources and contain incorrect information about important issues – issues such as sex and sexuality.
This is why it is so important for parents to take the lead when it comes to their children’s sexual education.
By making the wise choice to confidently (and comfortably) step into the role of your children’s primary sex educator, you ensure that the information they receive is correct, age-appropriate, and delivered in a loving way.
Having presented a talk called ‘How and When to Tell Kids About the Birds and the Bees’ to thousands of parents, I know that many parents were – by virtue of their own parents’ reluctance to address sexual topics – led to believe that these topics were taboo. As a result, these parents (as kids) were left to find out about sex and sexuality in other ways. Now, older and wiser, these parents wished to find a gentle way to approach sexual topics with their children.
